Matt became a Christian in 1993. He was born in Shillong, a city located in the north-eastern hills of India. His family moved to South Africa after he graduated from high school in 1999. He married Kirsty in 2015, and they have a daughter (Mila) and a son (Judah).
He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Arts (Hons) from Wits University in 2006. After feeling the call to full time ministry in his last year at Wits University, he started and ran a drama ministry that took the gospel to all parts of Johannesburg, Ghana and Thailand. In 2010 he responded to God’s call to pastoral local church ministry and enrolled at the Baptist Theological College in Randburg. After graduating with a Bachelor of Theology (Hons), he served as a Youth Pastor in a couple of churches in the Johannesburg and Pretoria areas.
In 2016 both Matt and Kirsty were pre-assessed by Acts29 and were given the green light to pursue church planting endeavors. Matt joined Bryanston Bible Church in 2017 as a Church Planting Resident and Pastor. After serving at Bryanston Bible Church for 3 years, the church sent him and his family to plant Pulse Church in the Northwestern Area of Johannesburg.
